Abbigail Hess

Figures, Dance, Freestyle, Beginner Classes

Abbi is one of the Oaks’ newest coaches but is by no means new to the sport.  She began her competitive career 27 years ago at her local skating rink’s Saturday morning classes.  She has multiple regional placements in solo dance, team dance and figures, and recently passed her Gold Medal proficiency test in American team dance.  Abbi continues to enjoy competitive skating and competes with her husband Bill in team dance, they placed 3rd at nationals in 2011.  Abbi has skated for clubs in Auburn, WA, Salem, OR, Vancouver, WA and, of course, at The Oaks.  She has also coached at the rink in Richland, WA where her parents are coaches.  Abbi has followed in her parents’ footsteps in other ways, becoming an engineer like her father, and sewing beautiful skating costumes for skaters from around the region like her mother.  Abbi and her husband Bill have a five year old son, Xander, who has already competed in his first regional championship and has a promising future in the sport.
